Organisation

The Master School in Autonomous Systems and Intelligent Robots (AUSIR) is a two-year Master Programme that offers the opportunity to study in two different European countries, leading to a double degree and an EIT-labeled Certificate.

The programme has an integrated technical content (Technical major) and business content (Innovation & Entrepreneurship – I&E minor). Thanks to different events students will be involved in EIT Digital’s exclusive ecosystem: the Kick off, the Summer School and the Graduation Ceremony will take place in various European countries with students from other EITD Master’s programmes.
Students can choose their preferred Entry and a Exit point from a consortium of top European universities. A key component of the second year is an industry-based master’s thesis (30 ECTS).

Each university has a unique specialization area for the second year :

  • Intelligent Transportation Systems and Robots (UNITN - Trento)
  • Intelligent Software for Autonomous Systems (KTH - Stockholm)
  • Intelligent Robots and Systems  (AALTO - Helsinki)
  • Sensing Big Data for Intelligent Robots  (EURECOM - Sophia Antipolis)
  • Autonomous Robots and Vehicles  (BME - Budapest)
  • Machine learning for Robotics  (ELTE - Budapest)
  • Autonomous Systems and Robotics for Smart Industry and Intelligent Mobility (UNIBO - Bologna)
  • Aeronautical Robotics (POLIBA – Bari)
  • Marine Robotics & Informatics (AEGEAN- Greece)

UNITN offers a specialisation covering modern applications of Autonomous Robotics Systems. The specialisation aims at offering the tools and the theoretical foundations to tackle the new challenges of the next generation of autonomous systems, ranging from distributed estimation to motion planning and vehicles control.
At the end of a curriculum involving the University of Trento as one of the two partner Universities, the graduated students will gain a Laurea Magistrale in Mechatronics Engineering (LM-33) and the equivalent double degree from the other visited University.

Applications

The admissions process to all the EIT Digital Master's programs is handled centrally by the EIT Digital Master School Office located in Stockholm. The standard call for the Academic Year 2024/2025 opens on November 1 2023 with the following application periods:

  • Period 1: November 1 2023 - February 8 2024 open to EU/EEA/CH/Non-EU citizens.
  • Period 2:  February 12 2024 - April 11 2024 open to EU/EEA/CH/Non-EU citizens. Please, note that application period two is not recommended for applicants who require an EU study visa due to time constraints. Also, note that all study trajectories may not be available during application period two.
  • Period 3: April 15 2024 - May 23 2024  open to EU/EEA/CH/Non-EU citizens.  Due to time constraints, application period three is only open for applicants who do not require an EU study visa.  Also, note that some study trajectories are not available during application period three.

For some tips on how to improve the application, see the webinar by the Master School Office.

Local recruitment

The local recruitment is an extension of the standard admission process that allows you to be selected as Parallel Entry Students (PES). After the admission to the Master’s Degree in Mechatronics Engineering you can apply to Autonomous Systems during the first semester of your studies. If you are admitted you become an EIT Digital Master School student for the second year of your studies. The outcomes of the selection are communicated by the central Master School Office.
