Giulia Fredi receives the ESCM Young Researcher Award 2026

A prestigious European recognition celebrating excellence in composite materials research

An important international recognition has been awarded to the Department of Industrial Engineering: researcher Giulia Fredi has received the ESCM Young Researcher Award 2026, presented by the European Society for Composite Materials to the best young researcher under the age of 35 in Europe in the field of composite materials.

The award ceremony took place during the 22nd European Conference on Composite Materials - ECCM22, held in Oslo from 21 to 25 June 2026. As part of the conference, Giulia Fredi was also invited to deliver the Albert Cardon Lecture, a plenary lecture highlighting her research activities in the field of composite materials.

During the ceremony, the award was presented to Giulia Fredi by the conference chair, Professor Sotirios Grammatikos of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).

This prestigious achievement is an important recognition for our Department and reflects the excellence of the research carried out at the Polymers & Composites Lab, a leading research group in the development of innovative and sustainable composite materials.

The Department extends its warmest congratulations to Giulia on this outstanding accomplishment, which further strengthens the international visibility of the research conducted at the Department of Industrial Engineering.
