The Department of Industrial Engineering of the University of Trento (DII), is mainly engaged in materials engineering, smart mechanical systems, electronics for industry, and operational research. The objective is to qualify the research and the educational programmes at the highest international standards.

The Department's mission is to create, develop and transfer knowledge and technology to the industrial world. This mission is pursued through a close network of collaborations and research projects involving multidisciplinary approach and methodologies.

The DII News, the new information magazine of the Department, is meant to represent a privileged link with the territory and its industry, and to foster links between the academic world and that of the economy and industrial production.
